Hi all,

I birded around Prince George's County today, starting in the fields along
Mellwood Road, and ending the day at Merkle. Mellwood Road hosted the best
bird of the day: a singing SEDGE WREN (recordings of it singing in the
eBird list linked below), it was heard just east of the abandoned road
where the Dickcissel's were last summer; basically just north of where
Mellwood road turns south again, east of the parking area. Other nice
birds there included impressive numbers of ORCHARD ORIOLEs, BOBOLINKs,
SAVANNAH SPARROWs, at least three WARBLING VIREOs, a couple of
YELLOW-BREASTED CHATs, and a single NORTHERN BOBWHITE. Merkle was fairly
birdy too, with HOODED, WESTERN PALM, and YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS,
AMERICAN REDSTARTs, NORTHERN PARULAs and a GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATHER making
their presence known among all the others. On the way out, I made a brief
stop along Fenno Road netted PROTHONOTARY WARBLER and LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH.

Full list from Mellwood can be viewed here:

Good Birding!
Mikey
