Don,
Where exactly are you going at the Turf Farm where you are finding
Black-bellied Plover, Upland Sandpiper and American Golden Plover ?
I was there on Saturday (8/28) and spent the entire time walking out
along the dirt road that runs along the first field (before you get to the main
office). I had some peeps including many Leasts, two Semi-palms, one WESTERN,
also ... some Yellowlegs (all Lessers that I could tell), Pectoral, Solitary and
Spotted Sandpipers in with about 15 or 20 Killdeer. I didn't notice birds in
any of the other fields or I would have stopped.
In other news, ... I finally saw the KELP GULL alternately at the
Sea-breeze and Sandgates Restaurants later on on Saturday. I think I am
(hopefully), the last person who has tried to finally see the bird. Then I
stopped at Hunting Creek and saw the White Pelican.
After the Allegany County MOS bird club picnic on Sunday, Bob Ringler
brought myself and a Frostburg Student "Mike Mackinnon" over to Piney Reservoir
to see a bird he saw earlier. It was a potential BAIRDS SANDPIPER, that proved
to be the real deal. We had to walk a ways out along the muddy shoreline
towards the dam, but eventually got excellent looks (I see he already posted
this).
Good Birding,
J.B.
