This morning I took a walk on the fireroad my side of the street this time. I heard so many Ovenbirds and Northern Parulas, lots of Wood Thrushes, Scarlet Tanagers, Red-eyed Vireo, Wood Pewee, Titmouse, Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers and faint sounds of the juvie Barred owls. I could hear the Great Blue herons on the nest from the fireroad and the one nest is down my neighbors driveway.
My question is are the Veery's less common birds to see now? I was sure I use to hear the Veery sounds quite often ..off of the Prettyboy fireroads. I have not heard any this year yet and I do not remember hearing any last year.
But, years before that I believe I heard them often during my fireroad walks? Could they have moved on to another area?
Thanks
Eileen
