As soon as I saw Dave's post, I raced up to the Soccerplex pond, as it is
only seven miles away.
I found:
1000-2000 homo sapiens and more arriving every minute
At least 8 LYL
At least 4 Solitary SP
At least 3 Spotted SP
At least 4 Killdeer
At least 6 peeps
1 GBH
Numerous RWBB
1 B. Oriole
1 gigantic bullfrog
1 painted turtle
1 snapping turtle
Alas, no dowitcher, short, long or medium billed.
Of course, he could have been hiding in the weeds (highly unlikely), flown
off to a nearby pond, on winging his way north.
After returning home, I noticed that Dave's post was made at 4:42 AM, so
am guessing that his sighting was yesterday, and not this morning.
