Weather:
Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy with haze; 59-84 degrees; haze
hampered visibility; winds calm for several hours, then from the SW or WSW,
increasing from 6 to 16 mph.
Raptor Observations:
A good flight, but many birds were very high or hard to pick out in the
haze, resulting in a significant number of unidentifed raptors and probably
many that were missed.
Non-raptor Observations:
At least 79 total bird species today, including 7 Little Blue Herons, 1
Cattle Egret, 1 Green Heron, 2 Soras (calling), 2 Laughing Gulls, 1 each
Caspian and Royal Terns, 1 Eastern Kingbird, 1 Black-and-white Warbler, 2
Yellow-rumped Warblers, 1 migrant Eastern Meadowlark. Butterflies included
Mourning Cloak, Monarch, anglewing sp, Orange Sulphur, Cabbage White, Pearl
Crescent, Red Admiral, Falcate Orangetip, Black Swallowtail, Eastern Tiger
Swallowtail, lady sp, Eastern Tailed Blue

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on Wednesdays.
