I went to Easton Airport looking for meadowlarks and possible early grasshopper sparrows and was surprised to find a vesper sparrow singing. This was my first Talbot County Vesper Sparrow after several dips last year. The sparrow was on the SE side of the airport viewed from a private parking lot at about 6:15 pm this evening. I think there was a second vesper sparrow on a distant fence but could not get a good look. The sparrow I did confirm was viewed well with a scope with distinct eye ring, facial pattern and fine black streaks on breast. It flew to a nearby ditch and the flew back up at which time I could see the two white outer tail feathers.
