Thanks Sara for your wild goose chase (sorry, just had to say it). But seriously thanks.  Supposedly, the landowner knows what the Pink-footed Goose looks like as two birds gave him photos of the bird.  That doesn't rule out that a nonbirder could mistake a Snow for a Pink-footed, but unlikely.

I hope others try this week, because it seems like a lot of waterfowl is moving around. When Paul Pisano and I checked for 30 minutes, no Snow Goose was present.

Good Birding!

Hi Birders,

Yesterday afternoon starting at 4:30 pm I searched unsuccessfully for the Pink-footed at the following places:

1) Pond on east side of Woodbine Rd just north of Florence Rd. Canada's present.

2) South Rd which is just south of 144 (Frederick Rd) east of Woodbine.
There is a huge field at the end of the road in back of the school where the grass was nibbled short. No geese.

3) Pond on east
side of Woodbine Rd just south of South Rd by large house with horses -
the pond is in back of the horses which were along the road. There were
hundreds of geese there. I watch for about 15 minutes and then they all
flew out towards the field in back of the school on South Rd. A Snow
Goose was amongst them.
4)
Back to the school at about 5:15 pm. The Canada's were sprinkled across the field beyond the ball
diamond in back of the school. The grass was nibbled so short that I
could clearly see the legs of the geese so I could still determine the
goose species even if it had its back to me and was bent over feeding. I scanned the flock for about 45 minutes and there was no Pink-footed
Goose among them.

I can't help but think that
maybe the homeowner, mentioned in a previous post, thought that the Snow Goose was the "rare" goose that birders were looking for.
