Kathy Calvert and I were the first birders on site (at dawn) this
morning at the Hurlock Waste Water Treatment Plant and after some
searching found the Western Kingbird around 8:15 AM along the eastern
hedgerow as described in previous posts. Since it was a work day, we
stopped at the office beforehand and asked a security guard for
permission to enter. He said we could go on in. So we were surprised
to see subsequent posts saying birders were being kicked off the site
later in the day. I'm not sure what is going on, but it is my
understanding that when visiting the site during a work day you need to
stop at the office to ask permission to enter.
Also of note were an estimated 4850 Tundra Swans in the impoundments, an
all time eBird high count for the state.
Good birding!
