Early AM I did a quick walk around GREENBURY POINT. I enjoyed a FOS
Blue-headed Vireo and several FOS White-throated Sparrows. Other
sparrows in attendance were Song, Swamp, Field and my FOS Dark-eyed
Junco. An American Kestrel streaked overhead, an Osprey did a low
fly-by with a large meal in it's talons and a very small, male
Cooper's Hawk made a run at a nearby Turkey Vulture. Other warblers
included American Redstart, Black-throated Green, Blackpoll,
Yellow-rumps and Connecticut Yellowthroats (I kid, I kid... just jokes
folks... they were Common Yellowthroats).
Back at HOME in Amberley, I am/was delighted to still be hosting 3,
very likely 4 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in our yard. What's more, I
added PEREGRINE FALCON to the yard list, as one (likely migrant)
streaked by around 12:30 as I was getting into my car. Our home
offers up very limited views of the sky (with all of the trees), so to
observing a PEFA overhead was truly an unexpected surprise.
At KINDER FARM PARK in Severna Park late this afternoon, I enjoyed an
Eastern Wood-Pewee, three Eastern Phoebes, Gray Catbirds, Northern
Mockingbirds, and one Brown Thrasher. Warblers included a vibrant
yellow Blackpoll Warbler, loads of Yellow-rumps, Palms (FOS Yellow
Palm today), a bright Nashville Warbler, a few Common Yellowthroat, an
American Redstart, a Magnolia Warbler, a Blackpoll Warbler and one
Black-throated Green Warbler. In the sparrow department, there were a
dozen or so Chipping, one Field, a few Song, a White-throated and a
FOY LINCOLN'S SPARROW. Finally, a lingering Indigo Bunting and
interesting Baltimore Oriole rounded out the evening. The oriole had
one prominent thick white wing bar / blotch. I could not see a second
wing bar. I posted some photos here:
