Hi Everyone,

On my way home yesterday (12 Aug 2011), I drove down to the end of Elliott Island Rd in Dorchester Co where I encountered an impressive number of egrets and herons.  Most were flying roughly north to south and passed directly over the road.  I was surpised to see 8 TRICOLORED HERONS in the flight.  Another large concentration of birds was feeding in the marsh opposite the new restoration work that is just east of Elliott Island itself.

In the marsh:

Great Blue Heron--2
Great Egret--4
Snowy Egret--37
Little Blue Heron--1 ad

Flying over:

Great Egret--57
Snowy Egret--39
white egret sp--6
Tricolored Heron--8 (6 at 7:45 pm, 2 at 7:56 pm)
