I'd like to thank Mark for steering to my first Red-headed Woodpecker of
the day. I had ventured up to Carroll County after ticking the MontCo
Dickcissel (after unsucessful try for the kite at Hughes Hollow)>
I spent about two hours trolling Sixes Bridge, Keysville-Bruceville,
Keysville, Mumma Ford, and Forest Stream Club Rds. I totalled 11
Dickcissels, all singers and presumably males. Aside from the Red-headed
Woopecker on Sixes Bridge, there was another at Keysville and Sixes
Bridge. I heard a Vesper Sparrow Sign at the top of the hill on Sixes
Bridge, and there was a single male Bobolink on Bruceville. Grasshopper
Sparrows were audible all over. There was at least one Horned Lark on the
bare dirt in front of the greehouses on Mumma Ford
Thanks to Bob Ringler and Jim Wilkinson for their posts, which prompted me
to wander out there.
