Hi --

Barry just phoned me from Back River (Baltimore Co.), where he was doing a
brief gull count before heading to a doctor's appointment. While there has
been a large decline in Bonaparte's Gulls (he only saw about 100), with them
was a BLACK-HEADED GULL, an adult in full summer plumage. It was on the
water and flying briefly below the Eastern Ave. bridge.

There is now an area where one can view the Diamond Point mud flats (above
the bridge) -- go up Diamond Pt. Rd. to just past Oriole St. on left. On the
right there is a gravel road leading down to the water -- where some wetland
restoration work is going on. Barry spoke to one of the MES workers and he
said the property is being transferred to he state tomorrow. He said "just
go down and look at the birds" so a big improvement. Park on the main road
however, the ground is soft under the gravel.
