All: Lisa and I had a surprising Prairie Warbler at Flag Ponds NP, Calvert Co., this afternoon - certainly my earliest Maryland record. Also present were two singing Yellow-Throated Warblers, a singing Pine Warbler, two Gnatcatchers and an RC Kinglet.
Earlier, it was fairly slow at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp, but we did hear several calling Louisiana Waterthrushes from the trail, and had a FOY Chipping Sparrow near the feeder area at the nature center.
Our Calvert birding day began at North Beach marsh, which held 7 Forster's Terns, a BW Teal (male), about a dozen Lesser Yellowlegs and a FOY Snowy Egret for us. There were three Bonie's Gulls on the short pier past the parking area on the other side of the road.
Good Birding!
