Tom and I hiked around Davidsonville Park today. There seemed to be an assortment of shorebirds on some mudflat type areas. This area is as you hike towards the Patuxent after you cross the stream and the trail bears to the left. After this there are the two large water areas on the right before you come to the river. The mudflats were in the first large water area. I am not an expert shorebird identifier, but I could pick out Yellowlegs, Killdeer and Wilson's Snipe. There very well could have been others that I could not identify because of my lack of expertise and also we did not have our scope with us. It might be worth someone else checking out as the mudflats seemed pretty active. Not many ducks....some Wood Ducks and Mallards. A Cooper's Hawk was frequently passing over the shorebirds, much to their chagrin. Also, about half a dozen Great Blue Heron. No Great Egrets here, but we saw one last evening at Southwest Area Park.
