Errands took me up to Montgomery Village area this afternoon and based on
Sally Wech's recent report about Great Blue Herons returning to the rookery
at Conn Island on the Potomac decided to stop by the mini rookery on the
island at Lake Whetstone. Great Blue Herons = 0 but there was a single
Black-crowned Night Heron sleeping on a rock along island shoreline. Viewed
from the boat dock side not the Lookout Place side. Don't think it was
around in Jan because I checked 3 times during my Mont Co big month effort.
Also nice to see a male Green-winged Teal in the bright sunshine.
