A new single day record for Red-tailed Hawks helped to push us over our 18 thousand mark today, Saturday Oct. 30th 2010. We began at 8:30 AM, but the flight didn't pick up until after 10:00 AM. The RTs were coming through in loose groups of 2 or 3 birds, and several times they formed kettles of 6 to 8 hawks right over the watch-site before moving off. One hundred forty seven was the RT count for the day. Several Red-shouldered Hawks came by rather low giving us great views. Sharpies were moving through out the day. An enjoyable time for the 14 or so observers who assisted with the sometimes fast and furious count. Thanks to all for your help.
