The Frederick Bird Club was joined by birders from Calvert, Talbot, and
Montgomery counties (I hope I'm not missing any) today on a trip to Poplar
Island. A total of 45 species were seen and Jim Stasz has posted the
results on e-Bird.  Highlights include:

   - a single juvenile Long-billed Dowitcher in the company of dozens of
   Black-bellied Plovers and Dunlin,
   - a Western Sandpiper, and several Least Sandpipers;
   - 13 species of duck (Gadwall, American Wigeon, American Black Duck,
   Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Ring-necked
   Duck, Greater and Lesser Scaup, Surf Scoter, Bufflehead, and Ruddy Duck);
   - a Bonaparte's Gull;
   - one American Pipit;
   - a Merlin

Mosquitoes were voracious!
