Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from July 27,2010

       This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island. 
       Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
	   Note the presence of King Eider and Wilson's Phalarope along with
high numbers of Black-necked Stilts and American Avocets.  Also note the
high numbers for Cormorants, Common and Caspian Terns, and many of the
shorebird species.  
		During the day the shorebirds literally poured into the site
when the winds shifted from a nw breeze to a se headwind.
