I found an Alder Flycatcher at Stop #12 on the Red Trail at Middle Patuxent Environmental Area this afternoon. The bird was singing most of the time I was in the area. Chuck Stirrat re-found it around 6:00 pm. Yesterday, at the same location I had a bird that did not sing which I believed to be a Traill's Flycatcher. The bird flew around when I played Alder's song but it never vocalized. Today I re-found the silent bird and it still didn't sing. While watching it I heard the Alder Flycatcher nearby. Do female flycatchers sing?
My complete list on this rainy afternoon is below.
