First, for those who enjoy taking a quick look at a couple photos of
fantastic DC birds, I posted a photo of the Dunlin and one
Semipalmated Plover found at the Reflecting Pool in DC today:

Second, just before I headed down to the Mall for the Dunlin, I made a
15-minute stop at Fletcher's Boathouse off Canal Road in DC and had a
fantastic experience with really friendly warblers. All of these
birds were so close I couldn't even focus my camera on them. My
100-400mm lens needs 18 feet to focus, all of these birds were closer
than that, and thus provided a Monticello Park-like experience.
Prothonotory

Northern Waterthrush
Magnolia
Blackpoll
Grey-cheeked Thrush
Baltimore Oriole
Warbling Vireo
The trees here are very low, with a good variety of them. Because the
weather was poor today the place was deserted. Again, I only spent 15
(maybe 20) minutes here at lunchtime so I wonder what else might have
been around! Well, there were Waxwings and a Pileated too, but the
trees were full of little birds - I just didn't have time to keep
searching.
Cheers,
