Hello all--
After being out of town, today was my first day to bird during migration season (in MD, at least). With limited time, I decided to stay close to home and walked the river trail at McKeldin area of PVSP. Warblers were very active-- with a total of 13 in only an hour and a half. I'm sure if I had more time, there were more to find. So, here's the highlights:
Northern Parula
Magnolia Warbler
CAPE MAY WARBLER (1, at the first white/purple trail junction)
Black-throated Blue Warbler (easily the most numerous warbler today)
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER (nice look at a striking male)
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER
Blackpoll Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Worm-eating Warbler
American Redstart
Ovenbird
Louisiana Waterthrush
Canada Warbler
Other than warblers, plenty of Baltimore Orioles and Scarlet Tanagers singing. I heard one metallic "chink" that very likely was a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, but never repeated any song or call, so I didn't count it. Thrushes were limited to Wood and Veery. Other than that, standard fare for the park!
Happy Birding!
