The Wilson's Phalarope found by Hans on May 5th along Rt 313 near Hacketts corner was still present this evening between 1851-1933. The increase in numbers of shorebirds is impressive since my last visit on the 9th. Numbers in parenthesis are from the 9th of May, included for comparsion.
Black-bellied Plover - 1
Semipalmated Plover - 47 (3)
Least Sandpiper - 760 (56)
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
Lesser Yellowlegs - 92 (36)
Greater Yellowlegs - 6 (7)
Short-billed Dowitcher (griseus) - 2
Wilson's Pharaope - 1
Shorebirds present on the 9th, but not this evening were 3 Stilt Sandpipers and 6 Solitary Sandpipers.
The water level does appear to be dropping, but there is still plenty of water and hopefully will be for quite a while longer.
