Just to set the record straight I had attempted to reply to John Hubbell off line about Whips in Harford, something he and I had just been emailing about. I joked to him about the responses of Hafner; John had used those very words earlier to me: "Hafner killed your SWAN" ( regarding a possible Trumpeter Swan last month in Somerset) and Bob Ringler's insight regarding my possible Henslow's Sparrow. This was by no means a slight at either of them. I value their opinions and they are both much better birders than I will ever be. How my response to John got caught up in the Clapper Rail message I have no idea.
