Birded the trail again this morning, had a little more time than usual 
as my bicycle tire popped early on (take lemons and make lemonade, 
right?).  Some new birds compared to last week.  I had hoped to find the 
southern USDA field with some puddles after the rain this weekend, but 
was quite disappointed.  That spot is about the only hope on the trail 
for shorebirds, other than a couple on occasion at the swamp (and 
spotteds along the creek).  Was hoping for snipe, yellowlegs, 
solitaries, etc, but not a bird (or puddle) in the whole field.  A 
couple of spotted sandpipers at the golf-course pond softened the blow, 
but only slightly.  Also had a migrating Buteo, but it was pretty high 
up and I couldn't get the ID.

Surprisingly missed some obvious birds (only had one woodpecker 
species), but had a few good ones.  A heard-only bobolink was a treat, 
it's a rare bird on the trail, I find them only every other year or so.

Most of the notes will most likely only be of interest for those who are 
familiar with the trail.

I bumped into Tom Ostrowski, and look forward to seeing the good birds 
that I missed :)
