I birded Rocky Gap State Park in Allegheny County for a few hours this
afternoon. The number of swallows there right now is incredible right now!
The air above the lake was completely saturated with swallows. Most were
Tree Swallows, with healthy numbers of both Barn and Northern Rough-winged
Swallows. After looking through them for some time I did pick up a single
Bank Swallow.
Other birds worth mentioning include, a single Green Heron along the lake
near the Aviary, 3 Blue-headed Vireos, 9 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 2 Pine
Warblers, 6 Common Loons, 1 Osprey, and good numbers of the usual suspects.
Good Birding!
