Today I saw six Tundra Swans at Perryville Community Park. They flew right over my car, which was pretty cool to see and hear. There were about six other swans way up Furnace bay, but I couldn't tell what kind they were from that distance. There was no ice anywhere on the water--hooray!

The park was otherwise very un-birdy, except for a few hundred Canada Geese and a similar number of molting Ring-billed Gulls. Aside from six Mallards, I saw only two other waterfowl, a good distance off the point, that I think were a pair of Common Mergansers.

The only landbirds were one Bluejay and several crows, one of which was eating cat food. I couldn't tell if there was anything going on at the eagle's nest on the far side of Mill Creek. No eagles were in sight while I was there, which is odd for Perryville.

It looked to me as though a few more of the big beech trees have fallen. A number of trees came down last summer during that one bad storm, but I think more went down during the last snowstorm.
