Hi all, after today you will be able to access Elkton Marsh from Elk River Park. After 2 years in the making it is finally completed. Even yesterday, standing in the parking lot I just whistled like a Sora and 2 replied back to me. They have been in there since August.
Also, in the spring and summer it is a great place for Least Bittern and Marsh Wren, Blue Grosbeak, Orchard Oriole, Praire Warbler, Field Sparrow etc.
It is free unless you are launching a trailered boat. I love to Kayak the marsh, its a great place to explore, so keep that in mind. There is a lot of Hunting during Duck season, so pick and chose your days in there properly.
From Route 40 in Elkton Turn onto landing lane. make a right onto Old Field Point Road, go 2 miles and make a left onto River Bend Parkway. River Bend takes you into the park.
Good Luck and Happy Birding.
