Tim, Ellen:
It depends very much on whether they have ever been birding in the US
before. Several years ago I had the opportunity to take out a serious
Britsh birder who had never been here. He was extremely excited to see Blue
Jays, Cardinals, Orioles, Bald Eagles, etc. Thus my first suggestion would
be to determine their previous experience.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Birding in mid-July
Tim has been asked to take some visiting birders out in mid-July. We are
told that these are very serious birders and so I'm wondering why they would
even want to do any birding in mid-July - if they are very serious birders,
surely they must know that this isn't a good time to be birding around here.
They are going to be visiting from Europe for business reasons, and the
people who are hosting them are just assuming that they will want to go
birding.
So on the assumption that they want to go birding, in mid-July, we are
trying to figure out what might be worthwhile.
We don't know if they will be willing to do very early morning, but it is
hard to imagine anything worthwhile past midmorning. We were thinking
Huntley Meadows.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
