Good morning,
I did a slow move around the yard this morning using my small National
Geographic parabolic mic set, hearing many more birds than I saw. I did hear
a warbler singing in the side yard and was finally able to locate it as it
worked its way into the maple above the woodpile, a 1st spring male American
Redstart, my first spring sighting for our yard. Before I found it however
I got good looks at a rather secretive female Blackpoll Warbler as it
foraged ahead of the Redstart. Only my second sighting for this species, and my
first female in the yard. Also of note was my first of the season (for the
yard) House Wren. I don't know where they have been hiding, but not in our
yard!

Also saw and heard the nesting Baltimore Orioles, Great-crested Flycatcher,
and male Indigo Bunting, as well as E. Kingbird, bluebirds, Tree Swallows
(nesting in yard), Cedar Waxwings, etc. I am using the parabolic mic more
lately to see if I can pick up a Grasshopper Sparrow in the neighbors farm
fields, as he hasn't yet mowed (maybe because of the rain?). Nothing yet...

Enjoy the fog,
