April 30: Bird Fest Lecture by Nigel Collar

Bird Fest 2009, the Zoo's celebration of International Migratory Bird Day,
will begin with a talk by Nigel Collar, a Cambridge University senior
research associate who has worked with BirdLife International for the past
30 years.
Dr. Collar's work has focused on threatened birds in tropical habitats
throughout the world. He has been called the most influential
conservationist in the United Kingdom by BBC Wildlife magazine.
A prolific writer of both academic and popular articles and books, Dr.
Collar will discuss one of his latest books called Birds and People: Bonds
in a Timeless Journey which "unfolds the history of our relationship with
the most colourful and familiar of the groups of organisms we share our
planet with."
