A Kentucky Warbler was present this morning at the PWRC (Patuxent) Central Tract (seen but not heard, while assisting as an intern with a PhD student's research). I know this is my earliest date for a Kentucky in Maryland, but I don't recall when in April/early May they typically show up.

Other highlights from the morning/afternoon included:

(Yellow) Palm Warbler (1)
Northern Parula (3+ singing)
Black-and-White Warbler (2+ singing)
Louisiana Waterthrush (3+ singing/chipping)
Barred Owl (1 vocalizing)
Winter Wren (1 singing)
Brown Creeper (1 singing)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1 singing)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (several, at least)
Tree Swallow (several)
Wood Duck (several, at least -- usually flushing from the Patuxent River or nearby wooded swampy areas, and flyovers)
Ring-necked Duck (1)
Great Blue Heron (1)
American Kestrel (1)
Red-shouldered Hawk (2)
