A beautiful afternoon to be outside, so I took my scope out on the deck, where I ccan see the Bay, and located bufflehead and common loon for my year yard list. Kept on searching farther out, when suddenly there appeared a huge flock of wheeling, diving and floating northern gannets -- about a mile out. I watched them for about an hour, while they circled south. It was quite a show, altho they are out where the water and the air shimmer. There must be thousands!
