I took a quick jaunt around Hains Point today, along with a thousand
other people looking at cherry blossoms. It was just about the perfect
day, the trees are right at peak now.
Anyways, for birds, the highlight was three Red-necked Grebes, the
three consisting of a lone bird in the channel about half way down,
and two birds together under the Metro bridge on the Potomac. The
Osprey are back on the nest on the rusty bridge over the Potomac as
well. Grebes were well represented overall, with the other two
obligatory species, including a couple Horned in partial breeding
plumage, one of which had perfect Eared Grebe plumage. If only the
rest of the bird went along with it!
