Hi everyone,

I went to see if I could locate Sean's Clay-colored Sparrow today, and like
Marcia, I came up empty. But at the Brantwood Golf Course I found a flock
of 12 WW Crossbills. They were feeding in a spruce along Williams Rd.

Also seen were 8 Common Mergansers in the Sassafras River, viewed from the
Rt 213 bridge.

There was one adult Lesser Black-backed Gull sitting on the ice at North
Beach.

Along Old Telegraph Rd there was an adult male Purple Finch feeding in a
mixed flock of waxwings and goldfinches. Where this flock was feeding there
is an extremely large nursery that runs along the west side of the road.
The birds were gorging themselves on fruiting trees in the nursery. I could
only see about 30 waxwings but there were more birds that I could not see
back off the road feeding low. This might be a good place to look for a
Bohemian Waxwing if you are in the area.
