I received a report this evening from Jim Morrin, a highly skilled
Talbot County Birder, who had relocated the Tufted Duck at Cambridge today.
The bird was loitering along the west side of the Cambridge Yacht Club
grounds in the company of over 100 Lesser Scaup. Fortunately for Jim, the
Tufty was along the side of the flock closest to his viewing point. The
tuft is not as long as is sometimes seen in full breeding plumage. Also,
the flanks of the bird were not fully white, but still retained a bit of a
mottled grey coloring.
The bird was seen around 3:00 p.m., and stayed around long enough to
allow thorough observation. The bird was found during the period of the day
when the wind was absent, leaving the water surface very still.
Observation conditions were excellent.

Jim also reported that his efforts to find the Eurasian Wigeon in the
same location were not met with success.
