An immature YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER showed up in Ft. Bayard this morning--the head markings were so faint that I was quite prepared to call it another immature Red-bellied, but the white wing stripe gave it away. Certainly the earliest I've ever seen there. The best migrant morning I've had in at least a week, though some flickers, a phoebe and a red-eyed vireo were the only other birds to show for it. Probably will be a good morning in other spots.
