A quick stop by the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens at 7:30 am failed to
recover the oft-reported Y-cr Night-heron, but did find the Alder
Flycatcher at (not just viewed from) the place hitherto described on
these pages. It was sounding its rough, less-frequently heard but still
diagnostic more monosyllabic call.
A note about appearance - I realize visual differences among the empids
are almost meaningless, but my impression is that the Alder was less
green than an Acadian, less "tan" than a Willow, less brown - and much
less eye-ringed - than a Least.
