We have an adult male Pileated Woodpecker with addtional white on its wing
coming to a suet feeder. When it flies away the addtional white shows
brilliantly. Quite startling. I have a photos of the bird stationary on the feeder,
unfortunately blurred because of the low light on our patio and a hand held
camera, taken about 7pm this evening -but it still clearly shows the oddity.
I've seen the bird before during the week so it possibly will be back. If any one
is interested I'll send them the photograph as a jpeg file. Also one of a normal
male Pileated pretty much similarly positioned for comparison.
