Greetings,
Perryville's Eurasian Wigeon (adult male) was observed from The Perryville
Community Park yesterday at 6:00PM. After unsuccessfully checking the
numerous duck/coot rafts within the Mill Creek basin, I focused on the distant
rafts up in furnace bay. It took about 20 minutes of scoping an aggressively
feeding raft of Am. Wigeon, Gadwall, Canvasback, and Coot before I found the
Eurasian Wigeon jutting out of the end of the raft. The bird was only
identifiable because it kept leaving the raft; allowing adequate looks at its
steel-grey body, reddish head, and white pate. The whole raft was feeding
rather ferociously and the wigeons, gadwall, and canvasback were being quite
the aggressors.
Additionally, I had at least 14 Tree Swallows at APG (Harford County)
yesterday! -My first true sign of spring! Last night, I dreamt that I had
Ospreys here at work... so who knows!!!!
BTW- The Black Vulture roost is still going strong above building 2200 at APG.
This morning it held approximately 50 birds.
Good Birding,
Chris Starling
