Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from Dec 27, 2007
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot
County, who continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul
Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
These sightings include the birds seen on Dec 27, 2007. Some of
the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from Tilghman Island and
back.
Note the presence of Northern Gannet, Peregrine Falcon, Short-eared
Owl and Snow Bunting. Also the numbers for some of the duck species have
come up substantially.
Weather: Overcast early, partly sunny mid-day, Clear pm; Temp range
40 degrees F throughout the day
