Dear All
I thought those working in NW DC might be interested to learn that a Sharp-
shinned Hawk seems to have set up residence in the Dupont Circle area of
DC. I mention this because in my slender 3 years birding experience in DC I
have seen very few Sharpies and none that I thought were birds anything
other than passing through the city.
This bird has been hanging around for nearly a week now and seems to be
settled in the area of Connecticut and M St, sitting around on the buildings,
sailing about a bit, generally putting the willies up the local avifauna with gay
abandon. It's worth keeping an eye out for. There also at least two Coopers'
Hawks around and, in the last few days, some Red-tails have wandered past
but none have stuck.
Merry Christmas everybody,
Gary
