Dear All
Well I was very impressed to read Gail's post of the birding this morning in
the 'yard, and indeed sorry not to have been there.
There have been a few birds around our house in Van Ness, DC NW in the last
few days including a Red-breated Nuthatch on Sunday afternoon and Black-
throated Green Warbler yesterday morning.
The 7.15am cup of coffee on the deck this morning yielded a Redstart and, to
my surprise, a superb and very showy 1st winter Blue Grosbeak - the Garden
strikes back!
Also of note was an Ovenbird found dead below the Audubon office building at
Connecticut and M, yesterday morning having clearly flown into the windows
during the night. Poor thing. Now it gives us the conundrum of whether we
can count it on the office list!
All the best
Gary
