I took a visiting birder from Seattle and another friend out to the Delaware
refuges today (Sat, 9/8), visiting Bombay Hook NWR, Port Mahon, Ted Harvey &
Prime Hook NWR. On our way back we stopped at the Central Sod Farm (John
Brown Rd, Queen Anne's Co.) and saw 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS. They were
on the north side of the road before you reach the house (which is on the
south side).
Shorebird numbers were decent in DE, but there aren't many places to find
them (not a lot of shorebird habitat). Best birds by far were the 22
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS we saw at Prime Hook (on the road out to Broadkill
Beach).
Good birding,
