Lisa and I forsaked the opportunity to see the Stint on Sunday, in favor of the much closer White Ibis, which we had not yet had a chance to nab....
The immature White Ibis was still at the Merkle sanctuary visitor center at mid-day Sunday, feeding at the back of the left-most pond when viewed from the back of the visitor center. We got some good looks, and as a bonus had an immature Little Blue Heron feeding next to it, and a Solitary Sandpiper elsewhere on the edge of the pond.
Further bonus was a very cooperative Grasshopper Sparrow (LIFER!) calling from the top of tall grass in a nearby field.
Other birds around included Eastern Meadowlark, Chipping Sparrow, Purple Martin and a soaring Red-Shouldered Hawk.
Good Birding!
