Hi,
We went to Rock Creek yesterday, just back from our No. Pacific trip -- didn't expect much and were not disappointed. We did have a Gray-cheeked Thrush near the Nature Center. Then, on the way home through the park, stopped on a whim at a parking lot where there has been (in previous years) a fruiting mulberry which attracts thrushes. This year the fruits seem few, but there were some thrushes -- two-three Swainson's, and one very probable BICKNELL'S -- giving good looks but silent -- very warm tones, esp. on chest and back, very short primary extension, pale bill with small dark tip. This is where we had a definite singing Bicknell's last year. Having just seen a Gray-cheeked at the Naure Ctr., the differces were pretty compelling but who knows...
