Alicia

Are you aware of this effort? The more the merrier.

MDOspreyers and SMAS listers, this is why it is important to support efforts to protect the Cerulean Warblers. So far I have not got any pledges from either listserve request. It is never to late to donate, so if you want to protect the Cerulean Warbler, send me a pledge note.

I don't care who you support so long as you help the Cerulean Warbler. Both would be better.

Thanks in advance. Going out to scout.

George

We aren't the only ones supporting Cerulean Warbler Reserve with birdathon-type funds!

Hi all (apologies for cross posting)

I was just talking with Sue Bonfield and she reminded me (us) that there are 10 days until the WORLD SERIES OF BIRDING. This is a reminder that this 24 hour birding contest in the name of "fun, glory and conservation" relies on pledges from supporters to raise money for the teams' pet projects. As you know, for the first time PIF and IMBD are hosting a team -- "The Redstarts". See the information below from Sue B along with links to sites on the IMBD website for more information about our team and how to pledge. For those of you who don't know that much about the World Series of Birding, you can also go to the following NJ Audubon site (NJ Audubon started this event in 1984) www.njaudubon.org/WSB

Let's all do our part to support "the team"!

Cheers,

2007 World Series of Birding Team - Make Your Pledge for Ceruleans!
For the first time, Partners in Flight (PIF) and International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) are joining the action by hosting a World Series of Birding team ‘The Redstarts’. The Redstarts is a unique team, with members from Canada, the United States, and Latin America. Their efforts will benefit birds that fly across borders between non-breeding grounds to the south and nesting sites to the north.

Each year, the team will commit the funds raised to conservation and education projects that benefit migratory birds in the Western Hemisphere. In 2007, the team has elected to contribute funds to Cerulean Warbler conservation, research, and education. Populations of Cerulean Warbler have plummeted by almost 70% since 1966. Deforestation on wintering grounds, mountaintop mining on breeding grounds, and lighted communication towers along its migration routes all pose hazards and contribute to the species’ decline.

Funds raised will benefit:
Cerulean Warbler Bird Reserve in Santander, Colombia for purchase of
land to expand the Reserve. Learn more from American Bird Conservancy at http://www.birdconservationalliance.org

Fundación ProAves in Colombia for public education programs on Cerulean Warblers and their conservation.

Cerulean Warbler Technical Group to assist with studies of Cerulean Warbler stopover sites. Learn more at http://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/newsroom/newsrelease/2004/nr_2004-02-02-warblers.htm
