Dear Ospreyers,
On Saturday 31 March the Audubon monthly birdwalk at Patterson Park, Baltimore turned up a small selection of migrants with one unexpectedly early species, a Caspian Tern, flying around the pond in the company of several Ring-billed Gulls. A look at the Yellow Book shows this may equal the earliest state record. The tern is still there this morning (2 April) as was a females Merlin at the pond (not seen on Saturday).
