This morning I visited the Wye Island Natural Resources Management Area for 
the first time. I headed straight for Ferry Point Landing Trail. On Wye Island 
Road and just before turning right onto the drive to the parking area, I 
scanned the Canada Geese in the cornfield. With them was 3 WHITE-PHASE 
and 1 BLUE-PHASE SNOW GEESE. After making the right turn and proceeding 
almost to the parking area, I noticed a small flock of EASTERN MEADOWLARKS 
and an AMERICAN KESTREL hovering in the field on the left.

Ferry Point Landing Trail is lined with Osage Orange trees and is eerily 
beautiful. I also took Jack-in-the-Pulpit Trail and was just amazed at the 
trees. It was a pleasant morning and there were birds everywhere. I stopped 
at Holly Tree Trail to view the 275+ year Holly Tree. If you haven't stood at 
the base of it and looked up into its mammoth branches, you're missing quite 
an experience.
