I had a short walk at the National Arboretum in NE DC this morning.
There was a PINE WARBLER in the small stand of short-needled pines near
the entrance to the state tree grove. I had a good long look at it
before it disappeared into the larger group of pines near the state tree
parking lot. The state tree area also had a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and
Red-winged Blackbird. The meadows adjacent to the Capitol columns held
Field Sparrows, Eastern Bluebirds, and Eastern Phoebes. There was a pair
of Hooded Mergansers in the large pond.
