Hello,
Lisa Shannon and I saw the Great White Heron (aka
"white morph of Great Blue Heron") today around 11 to
noon. We saw it on the far shore of the inlet that
goes in front of the platform and blind at the end of
the Tubby Cove trail. It appeared to be sheltering
from the wind.
A little earlier we had stopped at the Great Oak(s)
pond. Among the hundreds of Canada Geese was a rather
large-looking blue Snow Goose. No other species
detracted from the Canada-ness of the pond.
On our way home, we stopped at the Chesapeake Bay
environmental center in Grasonville, Queen Anne's
County. This refuge was rather quiet, though we did
hear and see some Brown-headed Nuthatches.
Cheers,
Rob Hilton
